The measured throughput excludes sockets, serialization, fsync, operating-system scheduling, persistence, snapshots, membership changes, and cross-range transactions. Logical ticks are deterministic simulator steps, not milliseconds. The lab keeps those limits beside the controls because removing them would turn evidence into theater.
